Yunmin is a PhD student in the lab of Prof Herwig Baier and Dr Fumi Kubo at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Martinsried, Germany. She developed an interest for neuroscience and zebrafish after a summer internship in the lab of Prof Bill Harris at the University of Cambridge.
Her research aims to understand the neural circuit underlying visual motion perception in larval zebrafish. To tackle this question, she harnessed the optical methods including calcium imaging and optogenetic manipulations in behaving animals. Moreover, she also used an unconventional tool—a motion illusion—to bring novel insights into the essential components of the visual motion circuit.
