Dr Rikard Frederiksen is a research faculty at Jules Stein Eye Institute (UCLA). Rikard did his PhD work on nocturnal vision in insects with Dr. Eric Warrant at Lund University. After that he worked as a postdoc in the laboratory of Dr. Carter Cornwall at the department of Physiology and Biophysics at Boston University School of Medicine. In July 2017 he started at his present position as an Assistant Researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Alapakkam Sampath at Jules Stein Eye institute.

Dr. Frederiksens research interests are primarily the mechanisms with which dark and light adaptation occur in vertebrate rod and cone photoreceptors. To study this, he uses a combination of techniques including microspectrophotometry, trans retinal ERG, extracellular single cell recording and patch clamp recording from retinal slices.
