Paul R. Martin studied Physiology at Sydney with Ann Sefton and Bogdan Dreher. Following postdoctoral work in Germany, in 1992 he joined Faculty at the University of Sydney. From 2003 to 2010 he Directed the National Vision Research Institute of Australia in Melbourne, before returning to Sydney in 2010 to take up his current professorial appointment at the Save Sight Institute. His chief research interest is how colour, form, and motion in the visual world are processed in the primate retina and sent as distinct streams of information to the brain.
